Mental Health Support Work

At BBT, our dedicated team of Mental Health Support Workers (MHSW) bring both their empathy and compassion when working with individuals living with mental health/disability. We ensure our team is the right fit for the participant, have expertise and commitment to provide support to those in need, as well as their innate ability to understand each unique individual’s situation.

Our qualified team, are equipped to facilitate personalised services focused on the individuals needs, aligning with their NDIS goals. Whether it’s through focusing on the participant’s physical, psychological wellbeing, mentorship, or other forms of ongoing support and guidance. 

We remain steadfast in our mission to help each individual thrive and live a meaningful life they deserve.  To achieve this, we work alongside each participant, to create a personalised recovery plan, that sets goals and objectives to help our participants achieve their desired outcomes.  With this in mind, being flexible and adaptable according to the changing needs of the participants. 

 

General Support Work

Our General Support Work for individuals with disabilities is designed to provide a wide range of support services to help in leading a fulfilling life.  BBT’s support workers offer assistance with activities of daily living, such as meal preparation, shopping, paying bills/budgeting skills, assist with using public transport, personal hygiene and grooming, medication management, and transportation.

In addition to these services, our support workers are trained to provide emotional support to our participants, build their confidence, develop life skills, and stay connected to their community, they also work closely with families and caregivers to ensure that they receive the best possible care.

At BBT, we understand that each participant is unique, and therefore, require individualised care and attention, therefore our workers are compassionate, respectful, and committed to providing quality care. 

Our philosophy of empowering participants is to live their best life possible. We believe that everyone has the right to lead a fulfilling life, regardless of their disability. With our program, we are committed to providing quality care and support towards this goal.

Psychosocial Recovery Coach/Support Coordination

Our psychosocial recovery coaches are professionals who support individuals with a psychosocial disability in their recovery journey. We provide guidance, encourage skill development, and promote independence and social inclusion for those experiencing mental health challenges.

Our coaches work in collaboration with the individual, their support network, and other healthcare providers to create a personalised recovery plan. This plan focuses on establishing and achieving specific goals related to mental health, social participation, employment, education, and overall well-being.

We utilise evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques to assist the individual in enhancing their self-awareness, self-management, and emotional resilience.  We provide practical assistance, including skill-building exercises, coping strategies, and problem-solving techniques.  Also, offer ongoing emotional support, motivation, and encouragement throughout the recovery journey.

Our team help individuals identify and access community resources and support services, such as allied health professionals, employment agencies, housing assistance and social group connections.  

We ensure, that the individual’s rights, choices, and preferences are respected and incorporated into their recovery plan.  Furthermore, advocate for the individual’s needs and interests, and assist them in participating actively in decision-making processes related to their recovery promoting a sense of belonging and reducing social isolation.

Therapeutic Groups
Counselling/Positive Behavioural Support Therapy

Positive Behavioural therapy focuses on empowering individuals to gain insight into their own problems, develop coping strategies working towards positive changes in their lives aligning with their goals to improve mental and emotional well-being and enhancing overall quality life.

Delivering therapeutic interventions in a supportive and non-judgmental atmosphere. Individuals are encouraged to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapists focus on understanding and modifying patterns of behaviours that are causing distress and interfere with daily functioning by replacing negative or maladaptive behaviours with more positive and adaptive alternatives and reduce automatic responses.

Techniques used in therapy include modeling, reinforcement, identifying coping strategies, problem-solving, therapeutic group work and among others. By helping individuals identify and change unhelpful behaviours to address a wide range of problems, including anxiety, depression, addiction, grief & loss, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), complex post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and relationship issues.

Youth Work Mentoring

At BBT, Youth Work Mentors are specialised to support and guide young people through various challenges they may face.  Our mentors work closely with the youth, providing them with a safe and non-judgmental space to express their thoughts and feelings. To create a strong rapport with the youth to build positive and trusting relationships to encourage open communication.

The aim is to focus on empowering young people to develop resilience, problem-solving skills, to overcome obstacles and make positive choices through life’s challenges. The goal is to help them set and achieve personal goals to reach their full potential and support their overall development into independent adults.

Respite Care

At BBT, we ensure our participants and the carer’s with respite NDIS funding receive short-term accommodation in order to have a break from the physical and emotional demands of caring, and the participant receiving care with meaningful activities or time away with others or on their own.  Our dedicated support workers, accompany the participant for a period of a few hours, a day or an evening, weekend, a week or several weeks. This type of care can be provided in various settings such as community access, the individual’s own home, residential respite, or a recreational respite and it involves assistance with daily activities, going to a camp, and socialisation opportunities.

Respite care aims to reduce caregiver stress, prevent burnout, and ensure the well-being of both the NDIS participant and their primary caregivers by providing them with much-needed rest and rejuvenation.

Telehealth

At BBT, we offer telehealth the use of digital technology and communication platforms, such as video calls and mobile applications, to remotely provide services and consultations to participants. 

Telehealth also enables professionals to remotely manage and provide mental health support care services. Overall, telehealth provides a convenient, efficient, and cost-effective means of service delivery, enhancing participants satisfaction and improving overall wellbeing outcomes.

Sports Clinics

We understand the importance of incorporating physical activity into our clients’ overall wellness journey. Therefore, we proudly offer sports clinics where individuals can engage in various sports activities, such as soccer, basketball, tennis, and more. These clinics provide a supportive and inclusive environment for individuals to improve their physical fitness, build confidence, and enhance their overall mental well-being. Our team not only focus on teaching sports skills but also help participants develop coping strategies, resilience, and teamwork, which are crucial aspects of maintaining good mental health. By integrating sports into our services, we aim to empower individuals to lead healthy and balanced lives, both physically and mentally.

Employment Ready

Our primary goal is to support and empower individuals in their journey towards employment readiness. We understand that finding and maintaining employment can be challenging for those who have experienced mental health issues. Therefore, we offer a range of services to assist participants in their career development. Our dedicated team guides individuals through the process of resume preparation, ensuring that their skills and experiences are effectively highlighted. We also help participants navigate the job application process, providing guidance on how to complete applications and submit them in a timely manner. BBT strives to create and identify work opportunities that are funded and organised by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for those who require additional support. Ultimately, our aim is to equip participants with the necessary skills and resources, enabling them to secure meaningful employment and reclaim their independence.

Assistance With New NDIS Plans

One of our key supports, is to advocate for new participants in navigating the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) process.  We understand the importance of having an NDIS plan that addresses the individual needs and goals of each participant.  Our dedicated team provides guidance and assistance throughout the application process, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and accurate. We strive to empower our participants and help them access the support and services they require to enhance their mental health and overall well-being.

Other Services

General House Cleaning

At BBT, we understand the importance of maintaining a clean and organised living environment for individuals struggling with mental health issues. That is why we offer general house cleaning services as part of our comprehensive support. Our dedicated trained team  not only ensures a tidy and sanitised living space but also creates a safe and calming atmosphere for our participants. We believe that a clean home can contribute greatly to the overall well-being of individuals and promote mental clarity and relaxation. By providing general house cleaning services, we aim to reduce stress and anxiety allowing our participants to focus on their mental health journey and achieve a sense of comfort and peace in their own space.
